Faith and Fire is not a work of creative writing or theological speculation; rather, it is a mission report - a ground level account of the current state of the Indian church and its missions. This book comes from a deep-rooted passion for the Church in India, a calling to bring attention to what has been overlooked for too long, and a desire to restore the mission of the Gospel to its rightful place - one that brings honour to God.
Throughout its chapters, this book addresses issues that have long hindered the Indian church: divisions based on caste, distorted doctrines, increasing persecution, conversions, and the relentless rise of Hindutva - an aggressive form of Hindu nationalism. For centuries, many of these problems were either ignored or swept under the rug. But in today’s climate, where challenges are intensifying, they can no longer remain unaddressed. This book is a call to uncover these hidden issues, to confront what has been buried, and to realign the church and missions with God’s true purpose.
The goal of this book is straightforward: to provide the reader with a clear understanding of how missions in India have evolved and, most importantly, to lead them into informed prayer for the Indian church. The issues discussed here are not easy to solve, but they are not insurmountable either. With open eyes and hearts fully committed to Christ, there is hope for revival and renewal in India’s church and mission fields.
It is my prayer that this book will encourage thoughtful reflection and ignite a passion to see the Indian church rise to meet the challenges of our time, strengthened and restored for God’s glory.
